Description

Modern microscopy technologies, such as light sheet microscopy, enable in toto 3D imaging of live samples with high spatial and temporal resolution. These images will be in 3D over time and may include multiple channels and views. The computational analysis of these images promises new insights into cellular, developmental, and stem cell biology. However, a single image can amount to several terabytes. Consequently, the automated or semi-automated analysis of these large images can generate a vast amount of annotations. The challenges lie in dealing with very large images and managing the large volume of annotations derived from these images and make the interaction and analysis of the data particularly difficult. In this workshop, participants will learn how to use Mastodon, an open access and user-friendly large-scale tracking and track-editing framework designed to tackle the challenges of tracking in Big Data.
