About the Symposium

The field of spatial biology is undergoing rapid advancements in profiling RNA and protein expression in a spatially resolved manner, offering a comprehensive characterisation of cells and tissues in both health and disease. This progress calls for a clear articulation of key biological questions related to spatial tissue analysis and the development of computational tools to address them. Beyond discovery, spatial biology contributes to translational applications in cancer research, infectious diseases, developmental biology and digital pathology. As we navigate this rapidly developing field, the Spatial Biology Symposium at Human Technopole in Milan on October 11, 2024, aims to bring together experts to discuss these challenges and opportunities, in response to the need to advance research and foster collaboration to address complex global challenges in human health and well-being.

The symposium will consist of on-site lectures by internationally renowned pioneers of spatial technologies and will offer a comprehensive overview on digital pathology, spatial omics, and computational methods.

Transport

Trains

Milano Centrale train station is the central node for the national transport infrastructure and it directly connects Italy to other European cities. You might consider reaching Milan by train if you leave from Paris, Zurich, or Frankfurt as there are direct connections available for these solutions.

Airports

Milano Linate is the closest to the city and has different types of connections with the centre of Milan. From Linate airport, you can take bus number 73 (direction Duomo M1/M3) with an ordinary urban ticket Mi1-Mi3 (see GiroMilano ATM, Azienda Trasporti Milanesi) and reach the city centre (Duomo) in roughly 50 minutes (please note that the bus is not convenient if you arrive/depart late in the evening or early in the morning). As an alternative, some buses can take you either to the city centre or to the Milan central station.

Milano Malpensa is a little further away from Milan city centre, but it offers a larger number of international connections while being still well connected to Milan's central station with buses and a dedicated train (Malpensa Express).

Bergamo Orio al Serio also has buses services that connect the airport to Milan central station, but it’s the farthest from the city.

How to reach HT

HT is well connected with the city of Milan with by:

-Regional trains (S5,S6,S11) available every 15-20 minutes
-Metro line (red)
-Regional train/metro stop is Rho-Fiera Milano: from here, electric shuttles and scooters bring you to Human Technopole in 5 minutes.
