DESCRIPTION:\nOverview\nFollowing the success of the first European Cance
r Dependency Map Symposium in 2023\, we are excited to announce the 2nd ed
ition\, to be held at Human Technopole. The event aims to convene world-le
ading experts in the fields of functional genomics and genome-editing scre
ens to advance the discovery of new cancer vulnerabilities and therapeutic
targets. It will also serve as a valuable platform for early-career resea
rchers to engage with cutting-edge developments and foster scientific exch
ange. A new feature of this year’s programme is a dedicated segment on A
I tools and advanced computational approaches.\nThe agenda includes talks
by renowned scientists\, an extended panel discussion with experts from in
dustry and an editor from Nature Genetics\, as well as three short poster
sessions. Participants are warmly encouraged to submit an abstract for a c
hance to present their work.\nThe 2nd Cancer Dependency Map Symposium repr
esents a great opportunity within the Italian and international research l
andscape to explore the latest breakthroughs and gain insights into the fu
ture of the systematic identification of tumour vulnerabilities.\nHere's t
he link to the Human Technopole webpage of the Symposium! \nMore on the E
uropean Cancer Dependency Map (EuroDepMap)\nThe European Cancer Dependenc
y Map (EuroDepMap) is an emerging and heterogeneous community of European
scientists committed to accelerating precision cancer medicine through the
systematic identification of cancer dependencies. This effort builds on t
he foundational work of the Broad Institute and the Sanger Institute\, who
se pioneering DepMap initiatives set the stage for large-scale functional
genomics in cancer. It also directly responds to the call published in Nat
ure in 2021\, which advocated for a globally coordinated and federated app
roach to cancer dependency mapping.\nTo date\, more than 1\,000 fully char
acterised cancer models have been screened through large-scale CRISPR-base
 d functional genomics projects\, generating unprecedented multi-omic and p
henotypic data. These efforts are now expanding to include more complex mo
dels—such as organoids and co-cultures—and cancers that are rare\, pae
diatric\, or underrepresented in current datasets. Beyond mapping vulnerab
ilities\, this evolving initiative also aims to define standards for data
generation and analysis\, and to develop tailored computational tools and
infrastructure to support data exploration\, interpretation\, and reuse.\n
At this stage\, the EuroDepMap community is coming together to establish i
ts identity\, to define a shared vision\, and to launch collaborative ende
avours across institutions and disciplines. By joining forces in a federat
ed consortium\, we hope to shape the next phase of cancer dependency resea
rch in Europe\, grounded in open science\, methodological rigour\, and tra
nslational relevance.\nTarget Audience\nThe Symposium welcomes national an
d international scientists\, from early-stage researchers to senior invest
igators\, working in computational genomics\, pharmacogenomics\, and thera
 peutic target discovery.\nRegistration Fee\n\n\n\n\nAcademic(In presence)\
